  1. CDR Publisher Registration Information
  2.  
  3. Summary
  4. 1.  CDR Publisher can be run in demo mode or in licensed mode.
  5. 1.a Run in Demo Mode.
  6. 1.b Run in Licensed Mode.
  7. 2.  Run CDR Publisher on different platforms.
  8. 3.  Run CDR Publisher on different machines on the same platform.
  9. 4.  Expected turnaround time for a license.
  10. 5.  Upgrading to a new version.

  13. 1.  CDR Publisher can be run in demo mode or in licensed mode.
  14.  
  15. 1.a In Demo Mode:
  16. You can run CDR Publisher in demo mode by selecting the "Demo" button when
  17. the software is first started.  Try out all the features in CDR Publisher
  18. including creating Hybrid CD-ROM for PC, Mac, and UNIX.  The only
  19. limitation you have is that you can only create CD-ROM images
  20. less than 5 MB in size.

  22. 1.b In Licensed Mode:
  23. You can run CDR Publisher in licensed mode by selecting the "Register" button
  24. when the software is first started.  A Window will pop up for you to fill in
  25. your name, address, telephone number, and software registration code.  The
  26. registration code is located on the inside cover of the CD case.
  27. You can also obtain a promotional Registration Code for the Lite Version
  28. from our web site until June 96.

  30. Press the "License Request" button to generate a License Request File. The
  31. location of the file will be indicated in the window.
  32.  
  33. E-mail the License Request file to "license@cdr1.com" or fax a printout
  34. to (408) 255-1011.
  35.  
  36. After you receive a password back from CDR, return to the Register window
  37. and enter the password in the Password field.  Push the "Run CDR Publisher"
  38. button to start CDR Publisher.
  39.  
  40. After requesting a license and obtaining a password, CDR Publisher
  41. will be activated in the following modes: Lite, HyCD, or HyCD Multimedia.
  42.  
  43.     A UNIX Lite version can only create ISO with RRIP data CDs.
  44.     A PC Lite version can only create ISO data CDs.
  45.     A Lite version cannot create any foreign type of CDs.
  46.  
  47.     A HyCD version can create Hybrid Data CDs, including HyCD, EFS,and UFS CDs.

  49.     A HyCD Multimedia Version can create HyCD, Audio, Mixed Mode,
  50.       CD Plus, CD-I and Video CDs.

  52. You can find out what version you have by selecting "Help/About..." in
  53. the Main Menu.

  55. You can upgrade from one version to another, for example upgrading from
  56. HyCD to HyCD Multimedia version, by calling CDR and purchasing an upgrade.

  59. 2.  Run CDR Publisher on different platforms.
  60.  
  61. Each license an end-user obtains is for a specific platform;
  62. i.e. Windows, Windows NT, Windows 95, SunOS, Solaris, SGI.
  63.  
  64. The platform is determined when you install the software and register
  65. under a specified platform.
  66.  
  67. To run CDR Publisher on a new platform, i.e. upgrading from the Windows 3.1 to
  68. Windows 95 version, please contact CDR to obtain an Upgrade.
  69.  
  70. To run CDR Publisher on additional platforms, i.e. running both on Windows 3.1
  71. and Windows 95 or running on multiple machines, please contact CDR to
  72. purchase additional licenses.

  75. 3.  Run CDR Publisher on different machines on the same platform.
  76.  
  77. If you only have one license (you purchased a single copy), you
  78. should install the software on one computer and use it.
  79.  
  80. If you have reinstalled the OS, or need to reinstall the software or
  81. move the license onto another system:
  82.  
  83.     A. Destroy the old copy on the old system.
  84.     B. Install the software onto the new system.
  85.     C. Use the same Registration Code to run the Register Program again.
  86.     D. E-mail the License Request Form to CDR.
  87.     E. Creative Digital Research will update its database and
  88.        issue a new password to you.
  89.     F. When you have obtained a new Password from CDR, type in the new
  90.        Password and activate CDR Publisher on the new system.

  93. 4.  Expected turnaround time for a license.
  94.  
  95.     E-mail: within 2 seconds after e-mail reaches CDR.
  96.     Fax: 24 hours during normal business hours.

  99. Note for E-mail users:

  101. Please check your "From" field on the e-mail that you've sent.
  102. It is possible that the mail is undeliverable because of the wrong
  103. return address.

  105. 5.  Upgrading to a new version.
  106.  
  107. Creative Digital Research continuously upgrades its software to provide
  108. our users with new features and bug fixes through the Internet.
  109. You can go to our World Wide Web site and download the latest version
  110. from:    http://www.cdr1.com.

  112. Upgrade Policy:
  113.  
  114. Minor Version Upgrades; i.e. from 3.7 to 3.72:
  115.   You can perform minor upgrades from our web site for FREE.
  116.  
  117. Major Version Upgrades; i.e. from 3.7 to 4.1:
  118.   You can perform major version upgrades from our web site.
  119.   Download the software and use your existing Registration Code to
  120.   re-register.  The new Registration Password will allow you to
  121.   use a new version with the same features;  
  122.     i.e. HyCD 3.7 to HyCD 4.1.
  123.      Not HyCD 3.7 to HyCD MM 4.1.

  125. Feature Upgrades; HyCD to HyCD Multimedia:
  126.   You can upgrade from HyCD to HyCD Multimedia versions by downloading the
  127. latest version from our web page and calling CDR to purchase an upgrade
  128. license.
